KORIBENI 100% pure organic cacao paste

£40.00

Organic cacao paste from the high jungle of Cusco province, at the foothills of the Andes.

Made from cacao beans that have been fermented, toasted and shelled: nothing added or taken away.

Variety: Chuncho

From the community of Koribeni, 100km northwest of the town of Quillabamba, la Convencion.

Harvested and fermented by the Machiguenga community.

Light brown or white coloration in the cacao is due to how the cacao butter and cacao solids have settled after milling. It is totally natural and makes every bar visually unique!

Koribeni is the community where this chuncho has been grown and harvested. Our friend Luis at Ecodely in Puerto Maldonado processed the beans into the cacao paste you see here.

The name Koribeni comes from two languages and cultures: Kori is gold in Quechua (language of the Andes) and Beni means river in Machiguenga: River of Gold. A perfect name to reflect a beautiful location and the magic of cacao.
